My first 5k was back on December 18th. I knew there was a chance of rain that day & I tried to keep positive. When we woke up & headed towards the course, I wasn't feeling too confident in the weather.

| Eep! Winter rain is COLD! |
It stared to clear out once we go to the sports complex. Whew! Momma did not want to run in the rain! I checked in while the fam waited in the car & then we went to explore. Kiddos DID NOT want to wait in the car!
True Life: Trying To Take Pictures With Kids
Fox 10 was there so the kiddos wanted to get on TV. I told them we could stand in the back ground & we actually ended up on TV! That was fun.
It was the Jingle Bell Run so they gave you jingle bells when you checked in. They were tiny - next year I will bring my own & really jingle!
Since it had rained, they changed the course a little bit to avoid mud puddles since it was a dirt course.
My goal was to run it in 35 minutes. I ended up running it in 36 minutes & some change. I was bummed I didn't make my goal but I didn't pace myself. I let the adrenaline of the race get to me & started off faster than I should have. Oh well, now I know.
Whoop! I got my first official sweaty beast race pic!
On the way home, it started raining again. Such a blessing to not have to run in the rain!
Over all, it was a good first race. Still a lot to learn as far as pacing myself & finding my groove but I am proud of myself for doing it. I am already signed up for my next race - The Color Run on the 26th!
