Healthy Train Tuesday

Happy Tuesday! I am linking up with my lady friend, Sam, over at The Ruby Turtle Hippie Times. If you don't read her blog, you should. Girl has dropped 65 lbs over the last year & is a running beast.

I have been back on the WW train for the last 2 weeks. I enjoyed the holidays & thankfully, didn't come out too puffy on the other side. I think a lot has to do with a mindset of eat a little bit of of what you want but you don't have to go straight up loco & shove it all in your mouth at one time. Novel, eh?

2012 was a weird food/eating year for me. In 2011, I was focused on my BFF's wedding & fitting into my bridesmaids dress. I did it & felt pretty but after that (like literally - my bday was 2 days later & then Thanksgiving was right after), I was over being crazy strict (I did no carbs leading up to the wedding) & just ate what I wanted. For whatever reason, I couldn't get my act together 100% in the eating department. On the other hand, 2012 was a bomb year for my running. After I hit 100 miles in September, I made a goal to run another before year end. Guess what? I did it.

So why can I be so disciplined in my running but so lackadaisical in my eating? I'm not sure. What I do know is that I am going to be working towards harmony in both areas in 2013.  I'm a work in progress, yo. I'm an onion!

This Week's Loss: 3 pounds

Pounds to goal weight: 33 - yep, I want to lose 33 lbs.

What I craved this week: Diet Dr. Pepper. I crave soda in the afternoons - I want the carbonated caffeine high right around 3pm. No more soda means I have to find other ways to get my fix. La Croix is helping this week.

What I noticed was different about my body: My jeans are looser. Whoop!

Workouts I did this week: I ran 3 times this week.
Thursday -- 3.06 miles
Saturday -- 2.46 miles
Sunday -- 4.55 miles

Personal Goal for this week: Stay OP with WW.

What I’m looking forward to: It's been quite cold here for this AZ girl (like 40 degrees - brr!) so I am looking forward to this week warming up a bit! 70 degree weekend, holla!

Favorite Quote for this week: There is beauty in the struggle & Just Keep Rocking.

My pastor gave an inspiring sermon this weekend that highlighted the struggles we face & how they can make us stronger. Did you know that when a caterpillar builds its cocoon & turns into a butterfly, it HAS to physically break the cocoon itself to strengthen its wings? If you peeled the cocoon open for the butterfly, it won't be able to fly because the wings would be too weak. The act of struggling to break the cocoon is what makes the butterfly able to spread its wings & fly! Pretty cool, huh? There is beauty in our struggles!

Frame of Mind: Every day, I have the control to steer my attitude, thoughts, & especially my actions into a positive direction.
"Everything is permissible for me- but not everything in beneficial. Everything is permissible - but I will not be mastered by anything." 1 Corinthians 6:12

Eat an apple instead of drinking the pop to get your sugar fix. It is something I crave now and I'm not drinking the pop and I'm getting a good carb! I'm so proud of you for your running.

Also, I love that you put you've got to fight to change your thoughts to positive. This is something that I struggle with constantly since I've got the funk. That statement put into words what I've been feeling lately.

And I really love the verse you quoted at the end.

Way to kick butt this week!
