The Color Run!

Saturday was The Color Run! The day started early. Like 3 am early. Addison came into our room & said her head & body hurt & she was running a fever. Instantly I knew she was coming down with the flu. She has all they symptoms - fever, aches, chills. Poor babe.  I gave her motrin & put her back to bed. Once I was up, I couldn't go back to sleep so I tossed & turned until 5:30. Ahh, hate when that happens!

Anyways, I got up & got ready. I was running with my neighbor, Katie, (we have decided to call ourselves Katie². Yep, we are awesome.) Our husbands were going to tag along with the kiddos but when we woke up, it was raining buckets. Really, Arizona, you rain the day I am going to run a 5k & have color dust thrown at me? Thanks, pal.

Waking up early gives me crazy eyes.
Katie & I got down to Tempe Town Lake & were surprised how many people turned out despite the downpour. Actually, what surprised us were all the little kids & babies in strollers that were there. It was POURING & these people had their babies out in it. I am not usually one to judge others parenting choices - we all have reasons for the decisions we make - but having your baby out in the rain so you can get pelleted with color dust is...not a decision I would make. It is January & it is cold.

To you, I say...
Take yo baby home!

How fun are our socks & laces? I know. Katie² is stylin' & profilin'.

Getting ready to start!

Once we started, the fact that Katie runs like a gazelle became quite apparent so I told her to run ahead because girl is fast. She ran the whole thing in like 27 minutes, no joke. I run but not that fast.

There were 4 color stations - pink, yellow, orange, & blue. The orange + the rain gave my hair a nice red tint. Pretty, right?

Since Katie finished 3 hours before me, she waited at the finish line for me & made friends with this little girl. She wanted to get color thrown on her so we opened our packets of color & dusted each other.

Notice my blue mouth? Yah, I used my teeth to open the color packet. Learn from my mistake...don't do that. It looks like I ate a smurf.

We grabbed some water & Lara bars they were handing out & headed over to the finish area. There was a DJ playing music & people were dancing. It was like a rave. Remember when I said I missed my calling of being a raver? They played Sweet Nothing by Calvin Harris & everybody was jumping up down. It was like my dream come true!

All in all, we had a blast. We were soaked - it literally rained the entire time - but we had so much fun. As long as the sun is shining next year, we want our families to come. The kiddos would love it!

Have you ever done The Color Run?? Do you think I am insane for running in the rain & having color thrown on me?? I suppose I kinda am. But hey, insane is FUN! :]
